An African financial structuring house
Inverting the angle: mobilizing private capital on the operating rights of a productive asset, while the State retains ownership of the property.
From financial audit to the arrangement of public and industrial assets
G.Mercury & Cie was born from a clear observation: African States hold valuable assets, yet too often finance them through sovereign borrowing. Our role is to invert the angle — because the operating rights of a public asset, granted for a limited duration, can attract private capital while the State remains the owner of the asset, which reverts to it in full at maturity.
We act as architect and arranger: designing the structure, incorporating the project company (SPV), sourcing investors, and monitoring execution well after financial close. The firm originated from a team of statutory auditors and chartered accountants united under GKM Audit & Consulting, which expanded into private equity before establishing G.Mercury & Cie.

The Hourglass of Perspectives
The Hourglass of Perspectives (Le Sablier des Perspectives) is the firm's proprietary method, registered with OAPI: each grain of sand represents value created locally — jobs, local subcontracting, tax revenues, skills transfer — and the inverted hourglass represents the return of the asset to the State upon expiry of the operating right.
The detailed methodology and its contractual mechanisms are presented to public authorities and institutional investors in confidential hearings.
Our four benchmarks
The Hourglass
Time as an ally
When the hourglass is inverted, constraints become negotiating levers. Each grain of sand represents value created locally, and the inverted hourglass signifies the full return of the asset to the State at the agreed maturity.
The Nexus
The alliance expressed by our ampersand
Capital and States, finance and diplomacy, markets and territories, strategy and execution: our practice connects worlds that rarely speak to one another, yet whose convergence unlocks major assets.
The Tipping Point
Resolving complex stalemates
We step in when a deadlocked situation — excessive debt, stalled construction, contractual asymmetry — calls for a new financial architecture rather than an additional credit line.
The Long Term
Contrary to short-term arbitrage finance
Our mandates span years. We accompany industrial maturation, effective operation, and the orderly repayment of capital tranches until the asset returns to its owner.
Growing at the pace of our mandates
The firm expands its presence wherever its clients and the capital it mobilizes are located. Each new office, partnership, and practice area is announced here once operational.
